Social Media Club of Salt Lake City

The goal of the Social Media Club of Salt Lake City (SMC of SLC) is to provide a local forum and networking opportunities for social media practitioners, or those interested in learning more about social media.

Social Media Club of Salt Lake City supports the central focus of the worldwide organization, which is headquartered in San Francisco, California.

The organization’s four focus areas are:

  • Expand media literacy
  • Share lessons learned among practitioners
  • Encourage adoption of industry standards
  • Promote ethical practices through discussion and action

For more information, visit smcslc.org or SocialMediaClub.org.

Membership in SMC of SLC

True to the genre of social media, membership in the Salt Lake City chapter is free. There are various SMC memberships which will entitle you to discounted admission to local events, but everyone participating in, or just interested in learning more, is welcome at all SMC of SLC events.

Contact the SMC of SLC Leadership Team

There are many convenient ways to reach the six founders of the Social Media Club of Salt Lake City. Their Twitter accounts are listed here, and the chapter’s online contact form submits information to its email address, smcslc@gmail.com, which is monitored by the chapter’s leadership team.

Additionally, the chapters various Internet properties are linked to on its blog.

Besides this, you can reach SMC co-founder, Kristie Wells, at kristie@socialmediaclub.org.

Volunteers Needed

SMC of SLC is dependent upon the various skills and abilities of its members and friends. In other words, the six founders can’t do it all. The chapter is actively looking for volunteers for a number of areas of responsibility outlined here.

Sponsors Needed

In addition to individual volunteers and helpers, we need the help of the business community in Salt Lake. We’re looking for organizations that can host events and donate door prizes.

Sponsorship of SMC of SLC provides a unique opportunity to be recognized by the Salt Lake Valley’s premier social media practitioners. Sponsors are recognized on our website in banner ads and in conjunction with publicity for events (like this blog post regarding our Jan. 15, 2009 inaugural event).

If you would like to support SMC of SLC as a sponsor, please contact us.

Share Your Programming Ideas

We’re always interested in hearing from you regarding programming and event formats. Please contact us to share your thoughts on possible upcoming events, speakers, sponsors, etc.

If you haven’t already, please be sure to take our chapter launch survey. We’re using that data to guide programming and events for the first little while.

Help Promote SMC of SLC

Be sure to tweet, blog, email and share links on various social media platforms about SMC of SLC — the chapter’s events, speakers, networking opportunities — whatever!

Please tag all blogs, podcasts, vlogs and photos with smcslc and socialmediaclub.

Please use #smcslc for Twitter tweets.

If you upload photos to Flickr, please add them to the Social Media Club pool.

Thank you!
