Hey, SMCNYC Is using January to Organize for the year. 

 

For February, 2010, the first week is Social Media Week! Of course, we'll be supporting Social Media Week New York as a group, but we're also running a very special event. 

In the Spirit of last year's Social Media Camp, SMCNYC will present a Morning of hands-on Social Media Help!

 

Part I: Breakfast as well as a panel discussion about implementing Social Media in 2010, featuring practitioners who have really created campaigns for companies large and small, followed by a networking and discussion time.

David Berkowitz is Senior Director of Emerging Media & Innovation for 360i,

Brian Simpson is currently the Director Social Hospitality at The Roger Smith Hotel, NYC. Brian brings over thirty years of hospitality to the hotel.  In 2008, Brian Moved to NYC from Boston to be one of the opening managers at The Plaza Hotel, an iconic landmark known around the world. In May of 2008 Brian was diagnosed with thirteen tumors on his spine, he used Twitter to get through six months of exhaustive chemotherapy. His work with the Roger Smith has led them to recently be called what “may be the most social media savvy hotel in New York -- if not the world” by eConsultancy.  The hotel’s use of Social Media to build business has been praised by Wired Magazine, Chris Brogan, Hubspot and many others.  Simpson has spoken at many conferences about the business success of social media, including 140conf at the Kodak Theatre in LA and Gravity Summit in New York.   The Roger Smith Hotel has now become a hub for social media leaders and innovators from across the country.

NOVEMBER 2009 - Google Wave and FTC vs Bloggers-the Real Story

SEPTEMBER 2009 - Get Real and Get Satisfaction!

June 2009 - Social Media’s Return On Investment - When will we get buy-in?  $

 On June 17th, members of the Social Media Club of NYC will take on the thorny question of how and when companies and brands are going to monetize their investment in Social Media.

Our meeting will be guided by the insights of presenters Josh Chasin, Chief Research Officer, comScore, Inc. and David Binkowski, Director of Word of Mouth Marketing at MS&L.  

Binkowski will weigh in from the practitioners POV, and Chasin from the analytical.

We'll explore the most current definitions and metrics. Look forward to a lively discussion on adapting current standards (driving targeted traffic) and making a case for new ones (level of audience engagement).
