Omar L. Gallaga is a technology culture reporter for the AustinAmerican-Statesman and a regular contributor to NPR's "All Things Considered" on the subject of digital life.  

 

Emily Starbuck Gerson holds a communications degree from the University of Texas. After two magazine internships, she became the editorial assistant at CreditCards.com. Emily was next an online copywriter and content strategist at HomeAway, Inc., and she is now the marketing and communications manager for theirBedandBreakfast.com brand. 

 

Daniel Senyard is a South African-born, English citizen who currentlyresides in Austin, Texas. Across six cities on three continents, Daniel has written both for business and pleasure. While at Seattle digitalmedia firm, FILTER, Daniel wrote copy and coordinated projects for companies like Microsoft, Amazon and Linden Labs.  He then moved down to Austin to work as a writer and project manager at Keller Williams Realty International

This month's panel topic is Social Snacks. Learn how three of Austin's most beloved local food companies have leverage Social Media to create buzz, grow community and most of all create new and loyal customers. Charla Adams from Sweet Leaf Tea, Michael Bepko from Whole Foods and Olivia O'Neal from Sugar Mama's Bakeshop will share examples of how they have successfully leveraged SocialMedia for business. Creation, participation and learning are all aspects of Social Media that benefit university students, faculty and alumni to connect and extend continuous discovery beyond the walls of the traditional classroom. We'll hear from a professor in Communication from Texas State, a visiting professor at the University of Texas at Austin who is also a Master Inventor at IBM, a community manager and blogger from the UT McCombs School of Business and a graduating student in Communications. Bring your own questions to quiz the panel at the end of the discussion. David helps Non Profits and people for a living. He does that at Ridgewood: Ingenious Communications Strategies where he is the Senior Digital Strategist and consultant to a wide variety of amazing non profit clients. He has been called a Teacher, Speaker, Blogger, Network Weaver, and Social Media Scientist. He was also named one of the "Top 20 Social Media People in the state of Texas" by the Austin American Statesman in 2009. The American Marketing Association awarded him the "Non Profit Social Media Marketer of the Year" in 2009.

 

Aaron Bramley

 

Aaron helps his clients build robust communities by using a multitude of online resources including social media and multimedia platforms. By creating rich audio and video content, along with their distribution networks, he gives his clients the tools they need to communicate effectively in the media landscape of the 21st Century. He also constantly researches to keep Ridgewood on the cutting edge.  Aaron recently spoke on a panel at SXSW Film about cause-driven film. February 16th

A sold out crowd once again!. The event's highlight was an excellent presentation by Ehren Foss on 'The  Science of Social Networks'. You can find the presentation slides here.

 

January 19th

 Bazaarvoice hosted the 2010 kickoff for the Austin chapter of the Social Media Club. More than 100 members attended, ranging from college students to CEOs. Bazaarvoice’s own Michael Osborne kicked off the meeting, followed by Marcel Santilli from IBM’s Rational Software group.
